Festroia is an independent organisation, enjoying the support of several government and private entities. It is recognised by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (IFFPA - FIAPF).
The Festival will be presenting full-length films. Their artistic quality should allow an assessment of the development in cinema production, which is not usually seen, in Portuguese commercial distribution and in the big international festivals. The Official Section (Competitive) will only accept films from cinematographies producing or co-producing less than thirty films per year.
The Festival Management invites also the films, which will be screened out of competition (Informative Section). This Section will include retrospectives distinguished by their artistic or historical importance and deserving public recognition.
