It is October 6 1973 and we are in Israel. It is Yom Kippur, the day of expiation and the streets of the cities are deserted. Everyone is at home and in silent prayer. Syria takes advantage of this holiday and makes a surprise attack and the Six Day War breaks out. Weintraub is the 23-year old alter ego of the director and, together with his friend Rousso is a soldier on the Golan Heights and both men try to find and join their special unit. They follow Dr. Klauzner and decide to join an airborn team of emergency medics. The five days that follow seem to last for centuries as they go back and forth from battlefield to hospital transporting the wounded. On October 11 their helicopter takes a direct missile hit and crashes. The aid workers become the people being helped. On that day Sergeant Weintraub, who was an architecture student, decides to become a film director and tell his story.
