“I like this story from the start: the world of petty criminals appealed to me because I thought of them as heroes... Maybe the reason is that I come from a quiet sort of environment... honest workers... I wanted to see the violence... I wanted to see what was behind all this... and of course, the thieves and criminals all went around on orange Kawasakis and we girls just love those big bikes, and the leather jackets... thinking about all the presents we would get made us so excited... it made us dream...”
That is how the story of Angela begins. Born and bred in Ballarò, a neighbourhood of Palermo.
She marries Saro at 20 and they share an existence of drug trafficking and easy money. She is her husband’s wife, soul-mate and companion and she is fascinated by her life. She adores luxury, money but above all, she adores danger. She willingly renounced her family for love of Saro and any chance she had of a clean and honest existence.
The first time Angela sees Masino she takes him for a cop. Masino becomes Saro’s main man and Angela’s lover.
“Angela” is the story of one woman’s journey of survival in a man’s world. It portrays a world of cruel and heartless men who are surprisingly very vulnerable because they are forced to given up their sentiments.
