Joachim La Fosse’s first film, Folie Privé, was shown in competition at Locarno in
2004. His new work is a comedy, an ironic account of the flop of that directing debut
at the box office. La Fosse also describes some of the difficulties of raising finance
for film production: his main character is trying to make a movie but is unable to find
any backers. His solution is to turn to unemployed actors and technicians, all
motivated by their passion for their job. With delicacy and expertise, La Fosse also
shows us the end of a love affair and reminds us of the need for caring and loving
relationships. |
