Iago is an original variation on William Shakespeare’s Othello. In modern-day Venice, Iago is a gifted university student from a humble background, surrounded by rich youngsters, all of them overshadowed by Othello, the son of a world famous architect and friend of the university president. It is Othello who cheats Iago of the just rewards of his studies, taking the position Iago was aiming for. And Othello also robs Iago of his heart’s desire: Desdemona. To regain what was rightfully his, and win the love of Desdemona, Iago goes to war, spinning a web of deceit and lies.
