The Athens International Film Festival OPENING NIGHTS is all about supporting independent film production and demonstrating its complexity and versatility.
The films invited to participate in the official competition section come from all over the world, with no genre limitations. Fiction, documetary, experimental cinema - no lines are drawn here.
All competitive entries need to be:
- Feature-length
- Greek premieres
- Independently produced
- Made during the 12 months preceding the festival
Besides 35mm prints, the Athens International Film Festival OPENING NIGHTS accepts entries in 16mm, Beta SP, Digi Beta and HD Cam format, utilizing hi-tec projection facilities in order to offer Greek audiences the opportunity to watch low budget efforts that would otherwise never make it to the big screen.
