What was originally a small event held in two Prague cinemas has grown rapidly in recent years. Febiofest is now the largest film festival in Central Europe. The main part of the nine-day festival takes place in the Czech capital of Prague where approximately 4000 feature-length, short, documentary, experimental and animated films are screened. After the conclusion of the Prague screenings, part of the festival program travels to the five largest cities in the Czech Republic. Febiofest then moves on to Slovakia where theater goers attend several film screenings in various cities. The attendance reaches 150,000 film fans annually. Every year Febiofest can boast of important retrospectives of work by creative figures.
Important members of the film industry, including buyers, agents and representatives of major distribution chains participate at the festival each year. In addition, prestigious journalists, both from Czech and international media, cover the festival annually, including major Czech dailies, several European newspapers and industry magazines from the United States.
Short films and documentaries are no longer accepted.
