The Italian Institute of Culture in Istanbul, as cultural office of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has the aim to promote and spread the language and Italian culture, supporting the development of cultural cooperation between Italy and Turkey. For this instititional purpose it provides information regarding Italy, its educational system and scholarships, and organizes a broad and intense program of cultural events including a vast range of fields and sectors. The Italian Institute of Culture in Istanbul offers Italian language courses at every level of the Common European Framework Reference of Languages (CEFR), has a wide library available for its students and is an official examiniation center for the Certification of Knowledge of Italian Language (CELI, University of Perugia).
Located at the historical Casa d’Italia building (Meşrutiyet caddesi n. 65, Tepebaşı, Beyoğlu), the Institute is a place for encounter and dialogue for intellectuals and artists, Italians living abroad and anyone wishing to cultivate contacts or relations with Italy. Since they belong to a common Mediterranean network, bearing an extraordinary artistic heritage, Italy and Turkey entertain age-long and deep cultural relations. In this framework, the Institute aims to plan, create and achieve new opportunities of meeting, confrontation and exchange, as well as to encourage and foster the Italian participation to the main cultural events and festivals.
Together with Cinecittà, the Italian Institute of Culture has been organizing in Istanbul since 2010 the Film Festival Appointment with the Italian Cinema, a special opportunity to discover the latest Italian film production, clearly distinguished by a strong, lively and brand-new imagination and particularly talented in fiction and expressiveness. Also for this year, the Italian Cinema will introduce a universe of unforgettable charachters and will tell the story of different humanities with an original and insightful look at the conflicting world around us. For this reason the VI edition of this Appointment with the Italian Cinema represents once again a point of reference for the Italian Cinema in Turkey. Enjoy the screenings!
