A truly historical document, Conversazione a Porto brings together two major figures in contemporary Portuguese cinema and literature, Manoel de Oliveira and Agustina Bessa-Luis, to have a conversation between friends. They deal with topics dear to them, such as personal and collective memory as an element in the creative process, the dynamic relationship between literature and film and the famous «saudade» that inspires so many Portuguese-speaking artists. By interweaving this exchange with footage of the city of Porto, Daniele Segre gives a sense of the cultural ambiance which has fed the imagination of these two artists.
