This story is set in Ferrara, at the beginning of 1500 at the court of the Estes, one of the most illustrious courts in the Renaissance.
After the death of Ercole I, the jealousies and the underground grudges between the four sons: Alfonso, Duke of Este and husband of Lucrezia Borgia, Ippolito, future cardinal , Giulio, born an illegitimate son, and Ferrante. Banquets, revenges and murders are carried out at the palace and Moschino, the court’s jester, gets unwillingly involved in one of the disputes for power. As the Duke Alfonso finally ascends to power, Moschino is cleared of the blame of lèse-majesté, but a twist of fate will involve him in a joke which will cost him his own life…
