Selections for Rotterdam are open

Cinecittà-Filmitalia is organizing the Italian selections for the 51st International Film Festival RotterdamJanuary 26th - February 6th, 2022.
The Festival programmer Gerwin Tamsma will be our guest in Rome October 25th to 29th in order to select Italian films.
General Rules for Eligibility - Submission to the Festival is open to feature films, creative documentaries, experimental films (minimum length 60 minutes) and short films and innovative visual productions for digital media completed after 1 January 2021.
The Festival gives priority to world and international premieres; films that have already been shown in The Netherlands are not admitted. Films previously submitted to the Festival and not selected will not be reconsidered for the 2022 Festival.
Sections:
• The Tiger Competition
First, second or third time directors of a feature length film, 60 minutes or longer. The film should have its World premiere in Rotterdam. 12 films will compete in the Tiger Competition. The Tiger Award is accompanied by a €40,000 cash prize, to be shared between the director and producer of the winning film. A Special Jury Award worth €10,000 will also be presented for an exceptional artistic achievement within the competition.
• Bright Future
Debut and second features or documentaries directed by new and rising authors in world or international premieres.
• Big Screen Competition (VPRO Big Screen Award)Big Screen Competition comprises up to sixteen selected films
having their World premiere at IFFR. The nominated films will be judged by a jury of five enthusiast festival audience members. The winning film will be released theatrically in the Netherlands and broadcasted on television in the Netherlands. The VPRO Big Screen Award is worth a total of €30.000. Half of this amount is for the filmmaker; the other half is to be spent on the Dutch theatrical release by the Dutch distributor.
• BankGiro Loterij Audience Award
All feature length films that have had their first public screening after 1 January the year prior to the festival are eligible for the BankGiro Loterij Audience Award, chosen by the festival audience through voting. The prize comprises €10.000.
• Harbour
IFFR’s newest section, and now its largest programme. This programme reflects the multidimensional nature of Rotterdam and its festival as a safe haven. It is the main base for the diverse and quality films that the festival wants to show to the world.
• Limelight
IFFR’s section for highlights of the year in arthouse, and a preview for theatrical releases of the year.
• Cinema Regained
a showcase reflecting on the living history of cinema.
If you submit the film through Cinecittà you do not need to fill the entry form online and pay the entry fee.
