Crossing Europe , which made its big-screen premiere in 2004, is a new festival of European film dedicated to showcasing the diversity of the continent's cultures and societies and the cinematography emerging from them.
This festival, launched by Linz art house Moviemento in a time of great upheaval, takes a focused look at the tremendous variety of the realities of life in Europe.
Its point is the possibility of discovering cinematic works that are hard to come across among everyday, mass-market film offerings.
An international jury composed of 5 individuals from the international world of cinema and the arts will rate the films in competition (8-10 features) and award the Crossing Europe Trophy for Best Film in Competition (10.000 Euro)
A jury of 3 individuals from local film- and arts-scene will rate films in the, Local Artists‘-section for the Crossing Europe Award Local Artists (endowed with a total of 6.000 Euro).
