he festival is being organised by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy (KCA) for Government of Karnataka.
In the Competition Section, awards have been instituted in four categories: Golden Berunda for the Best Film (Rs 10 lakh) and Silver Berunda for Best Director (Rs 5 lakh) in World Cinema; NETPAC Jury award (Rs 2 lakh) for the Best Film in Asian Cinema; Critics’ award titled Suchitra Sanman for the Best Film (Rs 2 lakh) in Chitrabharati in Kannada Cinema .
In the Kannada Cinema category, SEVEN films will be selected by the selection committee for consideration of the jury. Under the World Cinema category, provision has been made for ONE Kannada and ONE Indian (non-Kannada) film. Similarly, there is provision for ONE Kannada film in the Chitrabharati category, apart from films picked by the selection committee. In the Asian category, Kannada films are eligible for participation in the competition, subject to the decision of the selection committee.
