In the new multicultural Rome, there’s a particular meeting between the innocence of a little girl and the human contradictions of a man. A French painter and a little Brazilian girl live in two separate flats on the same landing. They become friends, but the girl puts the painter into the role of the father she doesn’t have. Pierre, the painter, teaches her to draw … far away from the confusion of the world. But Pierre is very ill, and his mood suddenly changes, and when he then tries to rebuild the friendship, it’s too late. The girl moves into another flat and he doesn’t manage to meet up with her again. Pierre dies with the pain of knowing he has thrown away a rare chance to develop an unselfish friendship. But the thing he will never know is that Marlene found her path in the arts, thanks to him.
